Possibly the white prominent building seen above is the Oriental Carpet Manufacturer’s warehouse below.
According to the text connected with this postcard in the book, Izmir Kartpostalları 1900, (Izmir municipality - 2003) ‘...we see an intensively built up area. The building on the far right corner, which can be seen only in part, is Theatre Turque. After a single floor café, we see two three-storeyed buildings, Hotel Egypte and Hotel Londres. Next to café Londres are a café restaurant, Austrian Lloyd Sea Freight Company office, and finally the grand Hotel Huck’. The fire of 1922 reached and destroyed half of these waterfront buildings.
