Cornelis Haga (1578-1654) was the first Dutch envoy to the Turkish court. Between 1612 and 1639, he built a network of consulates throughout the Ottoman Empire from his base in Istanbul. He was one of the founders of the Directorate of Levant Trade in 1625. His ermine-collared cloak was probably a souvenir from his days in Istanbul.
