A photo from 1929 with the reverse text translated: ‘... Yours Sincerely, from the Hungarian colony of Samsun’.
The Catholic Church of Mater Dolorosa (Our Lady of Sorrows) of Samsun in northern Turkey still stands today, open to visitors. The construction of the original church is believed to have started in 1846 by Capuchin Monks. In 1876 permission was granted to build the church that stands today. In 1885 a cemetery and a cloister were built next to the church. The church has over the period of the Republic suffered a significant decrease in its congregation, and today serves a tiny mostly transient community - Modern views of this church
