The details shown below are what is known by Rolls Royce as the ‘Build Card*’ and records the construction details and the name of the first owner of the car in the picture. These records were saved from destruction by the Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club (of which the restorer Bill Cutting is a member) and stored at the Club HQ in Northamptonshire. The registration is unfortunately missing and this is what Bill Cutting is trying to find and restore to the car. It is interesting that the car was built for use in ‘England and Egypt’, hence the likelihood that Mr Rees was the Willie Rees in the photographs. Mr Cutting does does not have a photograph of the car in it’s original form, when he bought it in the mid 1990s it consisted of a chassis and mechanicals and little else. The recent (2012) photograph shows the current state of the restoration. Unfortunately Mr Cutting couldn’t find a ‘sedanca de ville’ body to fit. The family might remember it as probably black - as most were - and the chauffer sat in a compartment of his own up front with a sliding roof only over his section. * Each and every car had its details recorded as it was built from the various components. The car itself is known as a Rolls Royce 20/25 Horsepower and was RRs biggest seller in the 1930s. |
