I have quite a lot of information about my mother’s Ferry family as far as the recent generations are concerned. Any information regarding their business in Turkey however would be of interest if possible to obtain.

My mother Louise Ferry had two sisters and one brother (plus a brother who died very young). Her father was Georges Ferry and her mother was Nellie Daston (English on the mother’s side). Below is the geneology on the father’s side (the side I am most interested in) which was the French side of the family. Information I would like to find would go back from Stephane Ferry and Pierre Ferry and beyond if possible. I have oral information which talks of the family having lived on the island of Tinos for some time but to have originated in France. I believe that during the Ottoman Empire foreigners were taxed so there is information regarding them that exists which might give a clue as to where they originally came from. Information about who the original Pierre Ferry married etc. and when he came to Istanbul (I believe this happened round about the time Greece gained independence from the Ottoman Empire) would be very helpful.

1/Siblings of Louise Ferry (my mother) were: Biella, Marie-Therese and Etienne.

2/ Siblings of Georges Ferry (my grandfather) were: Clementine, Alexandre, Eugenie, Antoinette, Achille, Ernest and Pierre.

3/Siblings of Stephane Ferry were Jean and Therese. This branch of the family went back to France and I have no other information than the ofspring they produced. They were: Marie, Alba, Yolande and Antoinne.

I know for a fact that the more recent tomb (containing my grandmother Nelly Ferry and my grandfather Georges Ferry, is in the Catholic section of the Ferikoy cemetery. What I want to pursue is that apparently Pierre Ferry, who was the first Ferry to arrive in Istanbul came with his family from the island of Tinos after Greece got its independence from the Ottoman Empire. Originally they apparently came from France.
