In the light of the secret Vatican archives, towards the Turkey - Vatican diplomatic relations, Rinaldo Marmara, 2012 - book in Italian and Turkish

Brief information

Within the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the Holy See and Turkey, the University of Istanbul Bahçeşehir University has published a luxuriously edition of the research work of Rinaldo Marmara, Doctor Paul Valéry of the University of Montpellier and Spokesperson of the Episcopal Conference of Turkey, the book entitled “According to documents of the Vatican Secret Archives, Towards the diplomatic relations between the Holy See and Turkey”. The project was made possible thanks to Dr. Enver Yücel, of the Bahçeşehir University, acting as the administrator.

“Although official relations between the Holy See and the Republic of Turkey were established only in 1960, diplomatic relations between these two countries date back to the Ottoman times. As there are no official reports, unfortunately, the Holy See was then under the obligation to proceed under the protection of states like France. Released for the first time from the Vatican Secret Archives, these documents relate to the relationship between these two states, and we retrace the path to diplomatic relations. At the same time through this study we draw attention to researchers on the Archive of the Vatican Secret Archives, a source yet to be tapped in in depth for future research on this important subject.”
