This a post card sent 1940 (post-marked Bebek, the neigbourhood by Robert College) to my father from his aunt Sarah (Lolo) Anderson, daughter of Charles Anderson, granddaughter of C. Hamlin. A view of Rumeli Hisarı, a sight no doubt familiar to them. | |
This a picture of Sarah Anderson who sent the postcard to my father. I am guessing it as taken around 1944 as it is a picture of my
her holding my older sister Lola. Sarah was the granddaughter of Cyrus Hamlin and the youngest daughter of Charles Anderson. She taught at Robert College’s sister school for girls and must have been back visiting old friends when she sent this photo to my father. She is also pictured on the extreme left in the Baker family photo. She mailed this from Bebek and a neighbourhood about a mile from Robert College. Since Harry (Henry) Baker’s widow was still alive till 1941 and there is no mention of her to my father (she would have been his grandmother), one has to wonder what was going on. |

Here are the two oldest photos (could be paintings) I have. I think at one time someone knew who they were, but I can’t remember who now, the price of not writing on the back of photos... click here for further in archive Baker family photos. |
